Picking Pictures

Almost 16 months old
A couple of weeks ago Katelyn discovered her finger can go in her nose, quite the accomplishment (said with sarcasim), and of course her daddy grabbed for the camera. (I am sure when she is 16 years old she will love showing this picture to her friends :)

The first time she did it I told her no and to take her finger out...which of course made her want to do it more (basic logic) and she continued to stick her finger in her nose....so when she did it again we just ignored it and didn't say or do anything (other than snapping some pics for the album, of course). The second technique (ignoring) worked much better because she has not done it since then.

I will admit we had a hard time not laughing (which would have made her want to do it more since Mommy and Daddy seemed sooo amused by it).

Breakfast Time

Katelyn is now pretty good at eating with a spoon and fork...here are so clips of her in action.

At The Park

March 15, 2009

We had a nice day so we took Katelyn for a walk at the park.

Father and Daughter

Look closely...is Katelyn's daddy mocking her? (Katelyn puts her pointer finger in her mouth or in her ear alot and will then just stand there and look at you...she does look kind of silly)

Is she actually trying to tell me that she needs a nap?!?!?!

Future gymnast???

Visiting Friends

February 22, 2009
14 months

We went to visit Jason, Mary and their 2 1/2 year old daughter Sage.

They own 2 horses and have a small farm. So Katelyn got to experience a little bit of the country life. She met "Crown" one of their horses (to Katelyn he was like a really big Cassie Doggy). She didn't care to much for Crown, I think he was a little bit too big for her liking.

The chickens on the other hand were more her size and she enjoyed them much more. I had to hold her back though ...if she had her way she would have been right in with them.

After "playing" with the horse and chickens we all went out to eat at a local restaurant. Katelyn had fun playing with the sugar packets, my straw, some crackers ... and anything else she could reach...but it kept her busy enough so we could eat (mission accomplished).

Dizzy

13.5 months

Katelyn loves spinning around the chair in the livingroom.

Odds and Ends of Katelyn

13.5 months old
I have not posted on Katelyn's blog in a while (Sorry Lou), I actually have not really taken alot of pictures or video this last month. So, since Todd went skiing yesterday and I was home sick Saturday with a bad cold I decided to spend the whole day just taking video and pictures of Katie. So here are ALOT of random videos of Katelyn around the house.

Splish Splash ... Taking a Bath

I figured I haven't posted any bath pics or video so here they are ...

She was very tired here and ready for her bottle and bed, so she was kind of mellow in the tub (Katelyn has been known to do alot of splashing). She also always tries to stick her face in the water and drink some of it (weird huh?) I discourage her from doing this, which then makes her want to do it more ... hmmmm. I guess soapy water must taste good :)

Walking in Shoes

12.5 months old
First Sneakers

The "experts" say when babies are just learning to walk they should not wear shoes, it is best for them to be able to feel the ground. So up to this point Katie has never worn shoes. Since she is a "professional walker" now :) we figured it was time for sneakers.

We actually tried the sneakers on for the first time last night, we did not take video of it because she was hysterically crying. Who new shoes could evoke such trauma? It was actually a little funny because she just stood there and refused to walk (while having a mini meltdown). So we obviously didn't leave the sneakers on for too long. We figured we would ease her into it a little bit each day.

So today I figured I would try the sneakers again and as you will see she was much more accepting of this concept of shoes.

You will notice she is kinda wobbily when walking, she is not used to walking with sneakers on, but knowing Katelyn she will be running laps around me in her sneakers before I know it.

Silly Girl

Katelyn has developed such a personality... she is such a character and loves to play, laugh, and tease. Definitely loves to tease. She started this new thing a week ago it is very cute.

When she wakes up from her nap and I go into her room, she bounces up and down with her arms up for me to take her out of the crib (or so I think). As soon as I go to pick her up she plops herself back down and starts laughing. As I proceed again to get her she crawls to the other end of the crib and squeals and giggles as I try but can't get her. We play this game for a little bit, because like I said it is quite amusing for both of us...until I REALLY need to get her out. Then its game over, Mommy wins!

Family Visit

Uncle Kent, Aunt Sara and Cousin Kyle came for a visit. Here are some pictures and a video clip from our visit.

The Joys of Tupperware

12.5 months old
Katelyn has discovered the drawer in the kitchen that contains all the tupperware and she loves to open and close the drawer as well as pull all the containers out. She is just as content playing with an empty soda bottle or a plastic container as she is with her toys.

Merry Christmas and Happy Hannukah

Katelyn was up quite early on Christmas Day (5:30 to be exact) so she had to wait a few hours until Daddy got up before she could open anything.
This was my morning until Todd woke up...

Here is Katelyn "pretending" to admire the tree...

Now Katelyn appears to be innocently checking out an ornament...

She glances down at the presents...

Then checks to see if anyone is watching...

She quickly snags a present... (This is the oops I think I am caught look, but as you can see she continues with the plan)

She then tries to undo the ribbon...

Still working at it for a few minutes...

She then discovers playing with the ribbon is more fun then actually opening the present itself...
Later that morning she did get to finally open her gifts and here she is playing with one of them.

1st Birthday Party!!

1 Year Old

"OK Mom, you took the picture can you take the hat off now?!?!"

"I LOVE CAKE!"

"Mmmm ...more cake please..."

Aunt Michelle and Cousin Gabriella

(Katelyn loved following her Cousin Gabriella around the house)

Later that night Katelyn opened ...
(I should say tried to open) some presents from Mommy and Daddy

"Balloons are so much fun"

Runny Noses

1 year and 1 week old

Katelyn has had a little cold for a few days now, but it really hasn't bothered her too much. Aside from a runny nose, she has been eating, playing, and sleeping very well. BUT in this video clip you can see she was very tired and a bit cranky (she didn't want to take a nap in her crib) and needed some cuddling with her daddy.

Note: She doesn't normally fall asleep while being held.

Toy Bin

This is Katelyn's idea of cleaning up...rather than putting her toys back in the bin, Katie thought this would be much more fun.

Shopping Cart

1 Year and 1 week old

"Daddy, I don't think I am supposed to be
INSIDE the shopping cart ...."

" ....But this sure is ALOT of fun!"

Who is having more fun Daddy or Katelyn?

Car Seat

11.5 months old
Katelyn and Daddy were testing out the new car seat,
Katelyn was watching to make sure it was done right.

Here is Katelyn all bundled up and riding in her new car seat.

Katelyn is obsessed with our remote control.
