First Steps
Last week Katelyn took her first steps without holding on to anything (very exciting I must say)!
She actually took 6 or 7 steps at one time. Since then she has taken anywhere from 2 to 4 steps almost everyday. She still prefers crawling as her mode of transportation but I have a feeling that will be changing very soon as she has now discovered walking.

Baby's First Halloween
Katelyn Update:
Katelyn is 10.5 months old, she has had her bottom two teeth for some time now but I noticed a few days ago that she is cutting two more teeth on the top also! She can stand anywhere from a few seconds to a minute without holding on to anything before she loses her balance. She has also figured out how to climb on top of things if they're are low enough.
She is still babbling the usual sounds and has added LaLa and NaNa to her "vocabulary". She loves opening and shutting (repeatedly) the cabinet doors in the kitchen that don't have the safety latches on them and pulling the storage containers out. She learned how to clap her hands together and she will do it all the time and laugh while she is clapping (very cute)!
She also has her stubborn side (not sure who she gets this from)...but if her toy falls out of reach or we have something that she wants, but she is not supposed have like our cell phone or mail our little, sweet angel will throw a tantrum (which is actually kinda cute now, but I am sure won't be as cute when she is 3 years old and in a store). She is persistent but she will usually give up if we distract her with another toy.

One little monkey jumping on the bed...
Katelyn loves bouncing up and down on her crib mattress when she gets happy and excited...I think we are going to need to get a trampoline for her one day.
"Helping" with Laundry
10 months old
Katelyn loves "helping fold" laundry. She is great at emptying her clothes from the laundry basket, but putting them back in the basket must not be as much fun. She ends up taking ALL of her clothes out of the basket.

My Little Oompa Loompa
Katelyn had her 9 month check-up a few weeks ago and is doing fabulous. She was actually about 9.5 months old when she had her appt. She was 29 inches, which puts her in the 90th perecentile for height and her weight was 19 lbs so she is around the 50th percentile for weight. I can tell how tall she is getting by the different things she is now able to reach.
Her doctor said to start her on the stage 3 foods and that she can start eating whatever table food we are eating now (with some exceptions), just throw it in her food processor. She definitely was not a fan of the new textures, up to this point everything has been pureed, so even the smallest pieces in her food resulted in some pretty funny faces from Katelyn. You would of thought we were giving her Cod Liver Oil with some of the facial expressions I got from her.
The picture below is of her eating Gerber's Stage 3 spaghetti in meat sauce. Her doctor said it's good to put some food on her tray and let her put her hands in it and stick them in her mouth. He said she'll get a "little messy"......actually I didn't have to put any food on her tray because she kept sticking her hands in her mouth trying to get the pieces of food out so food ended up everywhere (except her mouth of course :)
Feedings take alot longer now but as she is getting used to these new foods and textures it is getting easier. It has been over a week since we started and I already see improvement...thank goodness!

What's new with Katelyn?
9 months and 1 week old
Here is the latest update on Katelyn: She now easily pulls herself up on anything. She can also walk while holding on to something. She loves to crawl all over the place and explore every inch of her surroundings. She especially likes crawling under and over things (everything is one big jungle gym to her).
She still says DaDa and BaBa repeatedly and sometimes a sound that resembles "Hi", but today was the first time I also heard what sounded like MaMa ... it's about time Katelyn :) I am not sure if it will become a regular thing yet ...but it was definitely wonderful to hear!!
It is also amusing to watch her play. She clearly has favorite toys. She digs through her boxes of toys, tossing the ones that she doesn't care for to the side, until she gets to the one that she was looking for. It is amazing to watch her develop and literally everyday there is something new she does or that she discovers.
Katelyn can also tell us, non verbally, that she wants "Up". She will come over to us, pull herself up on our legs and reach her arms up...letting us know she wants to be picked up. This I find to be too cute for words. She is growing up way too fast...It seems like just yesterday we were waiting to see when she would roll over for the first time and now she is on the verge of walking...

Swinging
9 months old
We took Katelyn to the park to go on the swings. She loves the swings, and right before I took out the camera she was smiling and laughing. But of course when I go to capture this cuteness on video she starts staring at the child swinging next to her and all I get is a blank expression. Figures huh!

Rocking Horse
Katelyn was given this rocking horse as a gift when she was first born from Todd's Uncle Bob and Aunt Sonja. Now that Katelyn is mobile she has been eyeing the horse for awhile now. She is not quite old enough for it yet ... but that didn't stop her...so with a little help from her daddy she was rocking away. Once she got used to the horse and galloping noises it made she seemed to really enjoy it.

Relaxing in the grass
8.5 months old. Katelyn was having alot of fun at the park yesterday. She was practicing standing with her daddy and I am sure she is looking forward to when she is old enough to play on the playground.

Da Da
For a few weeks now Katelyn has been babbling the same two words over and over, "Ba Ba" and "Da Da". I know she doesn't really know what they mean yet but it is really funny because anything she sees, hears, or touches she says "Da Da". When I go into her room in the morning the first sounds out of her mouth are "Da Da" and when she is playing with toys or riding in the car she is constantly saying "Da Da". It is really cool to hear real sounding words coming out of her mouth, whether she understands them at this point or not it is amazing how fast she is growing and developing.

Katelyn has reached another one of her developmental milestones or from her point of view more fun stuff she can now get into. She has just started to pull herself up on things. She has done it a few times so far and likes being able to stand but hasn't figured out how to get down yet, as you will see from the video clip.

Snoring

It is Monday morning and I had to wake Katelyn up so I could bring her to her Grandma's house. As you can see and HEAR from the first clip she was in a nice, deep sleep. (and yes, that weird, animal sound in the background would be our daughter snoring... she must get that from her daddy ;)

Jumping and Bouncing
One of Katelyn's favorite activities is playing in her "Activity Center". She absolutely loves jumping up and down in it and making as much noise as possible!
Good Morning!
Katelyn is just about 8 months old in this video clip.
This is what I see as I go into Katelyn's room in the morning. She is usually wide awake and kneeling in her crib. She looks like a little prisoner in jail, all she needs is a tin cup to bang back and forth across the crib rails. It is however very cute now that she can pull herself up to her knees. (We had to lower her crib and take the mobile out a little over a week ago.)
